Sunny Snowflake Pattern

Home » Blog » Sunny Snowflake Pattern

Hey there! ‘Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la laa la la la laa, okay I don’t want to get too carried away. So with that in mind, I came up with a snowflake pattern and here it is…

Materials:

  • Crochet yarn of your choosing
  • Hook size to correspond with yarn
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Blocking materials if wanting to block (something to pin snowflake to, pins, iron {or your method and materials for blocking})

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • It is made up in rounds (not continual)
  • Each snowflake will be a different size, depending on yarn, hook and tension.

Stitches Used:

Forgot to add space (sp) and skip (sk)

Crochet Stitches

Make a Magic loop/ring

  1. Ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to ch 3 (12 sts)
  2. 2sc in between each sc around, join with ss to first sc (24 sts)
  3. Ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 1, sk 1, *(2dc, ch 4, 2dc) in next st, ch 1, sk 1, sc* repeat around and join to first sc with sl st (6 points)
  4. Sc in sp, *(3dc, ch 4, 3dc) in ch 4 sp from previous round, sc in sp, ch 3, sc in sp* around, join with sl st to first sc (6 points)
  5. Sl st in next 3 sts, *(sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc, ch 6, sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc) in loop, ch 4, sl st into ch 3 loop from previous round, ch 4* repeat around, join with sl st to first sc (6 points) cut yarn and weave in ends.

This would be the perfect time to block the snowflake if that’s what you plan to do 🙂

I made this design in anticipation of making a few garlands for around the house, but these would look great as decorations on the tree, coasters, etc. Feel free to follow me on Instagram @theloopystitch and fb The Loopy Stitch Crochet Designs. And if you do make these I’d love to see please hashtag #sunnysnowflake  (living on the Sunshine Coast, I will never see a snowflake here) if you use Instagram or please leave a comment 🙂 would love to know what you think.

Happy Crocheting xo
