The first post of 2021?

How is this possible?

I have not blogged yet for 2021! But I kind of understand, because it’s been such a busy 2021 so far.

All three boys are now in primary school (for the first and last time together ever).

All four boys are now playing football (soccer). That’s a planning nightmare lol, but I do love watching them play.

We got married in March. That was a biggie. I had four weeks to plan our wedding and make my dress. Which I did. More to follow below.

I have released two patterns (how sad lol).

Work has been crazy busy! I can’t believe how bonkers the property market is here in Australia at the moment.

I have big plans still for 2021. I can’t believe we’re in April already. Like ‘what the? Where did that come from?’.

My biggest plan is to release my book, and if that’s not quite possible, work my little heart out getting everything ready to be able to release it asap.

I have all my designs ready. I’d love to add a couple of blankets in there too though, and they take up a fair bit of work and time, but are definitely worth it.

My boys walking me down the aisle, bless their cotton socks and beautiful hearts.
Ahh Resilience In Bloom, you are a delight to look at
This was taken on the first day of the soccer season kicking off. It was a big day. It was also the day before our Wedding. Great timing as usual hahaha.

Aside from this, the boys have been fishing (minus Arthur) every weekend since the start of the year. They are really loving it and beg Dad to go every day haha.

Charlie (left) was so excited with his first ever Flathead, that he was shaking, hence the awkward smile lol. Will (middle) is amazing at casting and loves a good Bream. All the fish they catch are released back. And the boys can’t wait to go out again, it’s been raining a lot the last few days so the weather isn’t great fishing weather lol.

I had always wanted to make my own wedding dress. So I knew I’d be making it one day. I just hadn’t planned that it would be started and finished all within 4 weeks. It was less than that, but I’m not going to boast haha.

I’d never made a piece of clothing other than shawls/cowls/scarves etc until then. I had a lot of fun, frustration and FROGGING! Boy was there lots of frogging. I designed it from scratch, didn’t write it down and was beyond pleased with how it turned out. I still am. I made them as separate pieces so that I could wear them in the future again. Not sure when that will be, but the option is there.

I will definitely be making more items like this in the future. I just have to get my head wrapped around schematics, and sizings, because that stuff blows my mind. In the meantime, I’ll just stick with what I know.

I used Bendigo Woollen Mills in 10 ply, which is what I had in my stash, I recommend using a thinner ply as the skirt was soooo heavy in the end.

I made my bouquet from artificial flowers from Pillow Talk. I wanted to have something I could use as decoration around the house as a nice reminder of our special day. So fake flowers for the win!

What’s been on my hook?

That’s easy! YARN bahahaha. Okay, so aside from my dress, I’ve been working on my Splendid Serendipity square which I was planning on having it in my book, but I couldn’t wait that long to share it with you. So it’s now going to be a stand alone pattern.

I’ll be making the larger blanket in the colours on the left – I think the colour recipe name ‘Autum’ really shines through on that one. I can’t wait to step out of my comfort zone (right colours) and do something a little more bold. Although the colours in the Autum recipe were leftovers from Resilience In Bloom… hmmm lol haha

I’m currently making a baby blanket in the colours on the left. I’m still unsure of a name for them. Do you have any suggestions?

I also wanted to provide a few different colours recipe options for kits etc. so that you had the option to choose the one that you are drawn to.

Oh and we also have a new addition to the family. Meet Molly.

Okay, I think it’s a little obvious that I like taking photos of Miss Molly. She’s the most adorable little kitten and is growing up so much. I’m still training her NOT to like to play with yarn, but I’m not very successful at the moment. Plus, the boys are always teasing her with yarn… Does not help my cause haha.

So don’t be shocked if you see more photos of Molly in the future. Kitten, crochet, and cup of teas… ooh and because it was just Easter, chocolate too! All make my heart sing.

The boys are all awake now, so it’s time to get some breakfast and start crocheting. Yay for school holidays. No packed lunches and more time to crochet. That’s definitely winning!

Wishing you all a most beautiful day. I hope it’s filled with crochet too.

Until next time…

Happy Hooking!

Much love,
