Woo hoo! The time has come, I’m super excited. So let’s get started, grab your yarn, hook and scissors and get crocheting.

Colours needed:

  • If you’re going to be following this pattern exactly as it is with colour changes too, you’ll need your first three colours. 
  • If you’re using your own colour choices, then just follow the pattern, ignoring where it says to cut yarn and start using new colours.

Finished size:
Acrylic 8 ply – approximately 14cm / 5.5 inches – you won’t need much yarn no more than 10g of each for part 1 (over estimating if you’re using 8 ply acrylic)
Cotton 4 ply/fingering – approximately 10.5cm / 41 1/4 inches – same again, you won’t need much yarn, 5 grams maybe of each

Stitches used in this part:

MR – Magic ring

Jss – Join with slip st

Ch/s – Chain/s

Sl st – Slip st

St/s – Stitch/es

Y.O – yarn over

Sc – single crochet – With loop on hook, insert hook into st indicated, pull up a loop, y.o pull through two loops

Hdc – half double crochet – with a loop on hook, y.o insert hook into st indicated, pull up a loop, y.o pull through three loops

Dc – double crochet – with loop on hook, y.o insert hook into st indicated, pull up a loop, [y.o pull through two loops] two times

Bpsc – Back post single crochet, with loop on hook insert hook from back to front to back, pull up a loop, y.o and pull through all loops

Beg cluster – Ch 3, [yarn over twice and insert hook into indicated st or sp, y.o pull up a loop, (y.o and pull through two loops) twice, leaving two loops on hook], twice, y.o and pull through all 3 loops.

Cluster – [y.o twice and insert hook into indicated st or sp, pull up a loop, (y.o and pull through two loops) twice, leaving two loops on hook], three times, y.o and pull through all 4 loops.

Rnd 1: Using C1 – In MR, beg cluster, ch 3, [cluster, ch 3] x 6, jss to 1st cluster made, do not cut yarn.

[1 beg cluster, 6 clusters, 7 ch-3 sp]

Rnd 2: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in same st, 3 hdc in ch-3 sp, [2 hdc in st, 3 hdc in ch-3 sp] around, jss to 1st hdc made, cut yarn.

[35 hdc]

Rnd 3: Using C2 – Join around 2nd st made into cluster from rnd 1 with a standing bpsc, bpsc around each st, jss to 1st bpsc made, do not cut yarn.

[35 bpsc]

Rnd 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same st, dc in next 4 sts, [2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts] around, jss to top of ch 3, cut yarn.

[42 dc]

Rnd 5: Using C3 – In ch 3 st from prev rnd join with a standing dc, [ch 1, dc] in same st, skip st, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, skip st] around, jss to 1st dc made, do not cut yarn.

[21 (dc, ch 1, dc)]

Rnd 6: Ch1 (doesn’t count as st), [3 sc in ch-1 sp, sc in between next 2 sts] around, jss to 1st sc made, cut yarn.

[84 sc]
