Easy Crochet Hearts
‘Crochet Heart’, two words which I have searched many times over and over, never really falling for any designs out there ๐ get it? lol ok, enough lame jokes. Last week I offered my services to Mr A’s teacher to make some hearts for Mother’s Day, and once again searched those two little words for inspiration or better yet, a pattern that was already available. Nothing was tickling my fancy like usual so I thought I’d have a play and see what I could make. As promised earlier today on Instagram, here is the pattern…
Materials: Your choice of yarn and corresponding hook size and some scissors.
US terms (UK)
MR – Magic ring
Sl st – Slip Stitch
Ch – Chain
Sc- Single Crochet (dc)
Dc – Double Crochet (tr)
Tr – Treble Crochet (dtr)
Pattern US Terms – UK Below
Round 1:
Side 1: Make a magic ring, ch 3, (3 tr, 3 dc, ch 1, tr) in ring, continue with side two
Side 2: ch 1, (3 dc, 3 tr) in ring, ch 3, sl st in ring. Do not pull the magic ring closed yet.
Round 2:
Sl st in each of the ch 3 stitches from side 1 in round 1, 3 sc in 1st tr, 2 sc in next tr, sc in next 4 stitches, sc in top of the chain stitch (see photo if unsure), (sc, ch 1, sl st to front loop of sc just made, sc) in tr, sc in top of the chain stitch, sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in next st, 3 sc in last tr, sl st in each of the ch 3 stitches going into the centre of the heart. Cut yarn and pull through.
Now you can pull the end of the yarn you just cut through the centre of the heart to the back, close magic ring tight, making sure that the heart sits nicely.
