Just another Mandala Pattern

Just Another Mandala has been updated and brought to life lol. Well I’ve given her a new lease on life with a prettier edging.

For the new mandala I used DMC Natura Just Cotton in 5 colours (I will get back to you on their names lol) and a 3.75mm hook, its finished size is 17cm without blocking.

For the ‘older/original’ mandala, I used a cotton blend yarn and a 3mm hook. It measures approximately 5 3/4 inches or 15cm in diameter.

Notes:
– I use the standing stitch method for each round click here to see how to do it
– I use an invisible join for finishing each round click here to see how to do it
– I used 5 colours for this mandala and 6 for the one below
– Pattern is written in US terms
– **For this new version, and the ones below, cut yarn and end of each round.
– Where it states to join with a slip stitch, you can use an invisible join

**** THIS IS THE UPDATED VERSION, ORIGINAL ONE IS BELOW  *****

UPDATE:

This morning I made a few changes to this pattern to see if they last couple of rounds would sit a little flatter. And they do, but still have a very slight ruffled look to them, which to me adds a nice texture. Here are the pattern changes if you want it to lay a little flatter, I have also changed the ‘border’ round as well.

Round 6: Using C4, make a starting sc in top of middle tr made in round 5, ch10, sc in middle tr, ch10*, repeat around (8 loops created)

Round 7: Using C4, make a starting sc in any loop sp, 11 sc in same loop, 12sc in each loop sp around (8 loops)

Round 8: Using C5, make a starting sc in 1st sc made in any loop from round 7, ch6, sk5, sc in next st, ch6, *sk5, sc in next st, ch6*, repeat around (16 loops created)

Round 9: Using C5, make a starting sc in top of any sc made in round 8, dc7 in loop, *sc in top of sc made in round 8, dc7 in loop*, repeat around (16 petals)

Round 10: Using C6, make a starting lsc into the same space as the sc in round 6, ch1, *sk1, picot in next st, ch1, sk1, picot in next st, ch1, sk1, picot in next st, ch1, lsc into same space as the sc in round 6, ch1*, repeat around (16 bordered petals)

Here is what the new pattern works up like… don’t forget to hashtag #notjustanothermandala if you crochet one and upload it to Instagram xo
